The First Team

The first team at Bush Hill Park enter three major competitions.

The Frank Rowse Inter-club Trophy
The Club enter this knock-out tournament each year.
Teams consist of eight players and the format is match play with four foursomes played in the morning and eight singles played in the afternoon
All matches are played over 18 holes or such further number to achieve a definite result or until an overall result is known.

The Thornton Cup
Competition is organised by the Essex Golf Union but in addition to Clubs affiliated to the Essex Golf Union, Golf Clubs in Middlesex and Hertfordshire originally served by the Great Eastern section of the former London and North Eastern Railway are eligible for the Thornton Cup.
Each Club is represented by ten players, who must be Members on 1st January of the year in which the event takes place.
All matches to be played off scratch.
Match Format: Morning - Five Foursomes, Afternoon - Ten Singles.
All foursomes or individual matches to be played over 18 holes or any lesser number to achieve a result. Any match all square at the conclusion of the 18th hole shall be declared a halved match. In the event of the overall match ending in a tie of 71/2 matches per side, a player nominated by each team shall compete in a sudden death play-off over designated holes agreed by the two Captains, or by a County official from the semi-final stages.

The Middlesex President's Foursomes

Teams consist of six players (three foursomes), each match to be played off scratch and to a definite result. The first round matches are played on a home and away basis, the team with the winning aggregate to go through to the second round. Each of the further rounds are straight knock-out. The final is played on a neutral course to be determined by the Executive Committee.
